Winston C. Vaughan, MD

Dr. Winston Vaughan specializes in advanced nasal and sinus surgery with additional interests in complex orbital and skull base disorders.

Dr. Vaughan specializes in a wide range of conditions including:

• Primary and revision (re-do) endoscopic sinus surgery
• In-Office low dose sinus CT scans in Atherton, Sonoma, and S.F.
• Nasal surgeries for nasal obstruction
• Nasal and sinus tumor management
• Chronic sinusitis and recurrent sinus polyps
• Fungal sinusitis
• Endoscopic CSF leak repair
• In-office procedures for sinus and nasal problems
• Balloon Sinuplasty
• Radiofrequency office-based procedures for chronic runny nose and nasal obstruction
• Non-surgical therapy for nasal polyposis

Dr. Vaughan completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Johns Hopkins University. He then received his M.D. degree from the Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Vaughan completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Stanford University where he developed an interest and passion for complex nasal, sinus and skull base disorders. He then went on to complete a fellowship with Dr. Frederick Kuhn at the Georgia Nasal & Sinus Institute. Dr. Vaughan became one of the first academic rhinologists in the Western United States when he returned to Stanford University and founded the Stanford Sinus Center. As director of the Stanford Sinus Center, Dr. Vaughan developed research and training programs to advance the sinus care of patients from all over the Western United States.

A commitment to offering accessibility to the highest level of sinus care for all patients throughout Northern California led Dr. Vaughan to found the California Sinus Centers in 2005. As the director of Cal Sinus, Dr. Vaughan has brought advanced tertiary level sinus care, previously only available in a University Health System, to thousands of patients in a compassionate, caring and accessible private practice environment. At Cal Sinus, Drs. Vaughan and Fong also continue their research and education efforts to advance understanding of rhinology conditions and find more effective and safer therapies.

Dr. Vaughan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology (AAO-HNS) and the American Rhinologic Society (ARS). He sees patients in multiple locations throughout the Bay Area and is on staff at El Camino Hospital and Waverley Surgical Center.

In his free time, he enjoys weightlifting, traveling (often to see his parents in Jamaica), swimming or being tortured by his daughter, Naomi
